The harbor of Hvide Sande forms the setting and the North Sea is the back cloth when European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017 celebrates the big finale in Hvide Sande on December 9th. The event begins at 5 PM and is streamed live at a giant screen at Aarhus Harbor. Prior to the official finale in Hvide Sande, the local trade association Havnen will host a festive afternoon from 2 PM in collaboration with the municipality of Ringkøbing-Skjern and the tourist office Hvidesande.dk. Besides cultural features and musical warm-up, there will be tents at the harbor where the visitors can seek cover from the brisk December western wind. Here you can also meet an abundance of food stands with to-go food and a big selection of warm beverages.
A 30-minute show on land and at sea with singing and dancing from both professional and local performers awaits the audience in Hvide Sande where represents from all over the region of Central Jutland will be present to send off positive energy and cultural fortune towards next year’s European Capitals of Culture: Leeuwarden in Holland and Valletta in Malta.
Once the official part of the finale event moves from Hvide Sande and back to Aarhus at 5.30 PM, Hvide Sande dismisses the many visitors with another round of musical entertainment.
