Children are our future and in our year of culture we are placing the child at the centre of our celebrations.

We are launching our year with children’s parades, choirs and community fairs so that our children can learn about their heritage and rethink it. We are setting up story-telling between our elders and our young people so that we might keep alive our narratives. We are using play and spectacle in our dramas and events to create a magical world for children and adults alike.

In our cultural year we also join with our co-presenter the Hay Festival, to launch the first International Festival of Children’s Literature.
