FRESH EYES

Presented by Galleri Image and Aarhus Centre for Literature

FRESH EYES – International Artists Rethink Aarhus offers a unique urban exhibition, showing Aarhus from hitherto unknown sides. Galleri Image and the Aarhus Centre for Literature in collaboration have invited internationally recognised photographers and writers from Europe, Asia and Africa to rethink’ the city creatively in text and image.

Between 2013-2017 Aarhus has been visited and re-imagined by eleven photographic artists and eight writers including photographers Tom Lovelace, Miriam O’Connor, and writers Abdellah Taïa, Andri Snær Magnason and Niviaq Korneliussen.

The artists have – with their fresh eyes – viewed people and places, which the locals no longer have eyes for, and will open our eyes to the aesthetic potential of the city. The many works will be exhibited each in their own way: in windows, courtyards, along the walls of buildings and on gables, in the area around Vestergade and Grønnegade. The exhibition will consist of everything from video projection to text montage; it encourages exploration of these very different representations of Aarhus.

Aarhus is so much more than just the city hall tower and the Rainbow, and FRESH EYES will show you what this is.
