THE CARTE BLANCHE TRIBE IN PAFOS

Presented by Carte Blanche

This October, Pafos, Cyprus, will be inhabited by The Carte Blanche Tribe, who will create a performance specifically for the city. The concept of The Carte Blanche Tribe is that a group of international artists, dressed completely in white, create performances in urban spaces. Guided by curiosity, ‘the tribe’ will let themselves be carried away by the city’s hidden surprises and invite audiences to do the same, inviting audiences into an investigation of their local area and a (re)discovery of reality – a reality that is right here in front of us. From the first day, the artists will investigate the city dressed in their white costumes. They will meet the place and the people living there. All these meetings will, eventually be woven into a performance for the people of Pafos to come and experience. In this way The Carte Blanche Tribe is creating a performance directly with, from and for Pafos and it’s inhabitants.

The Carte Blanche Tribe is created by the danish theatre Carte Blanche, located as a regional theatre in Viborg, Denmark. Carte Blanche has been invited to represent Danish ’stage-art’ within a cultural exchange program between Aarhus/Central Denmark Region and Pafos/Cyprus – the two cities which share the title of European Capital of Culture in 2017. Carte Blanche is one out of only seven projects representing the Danish culture within this exchange
