Frode Gundorf Nielsen: Unfinished Symphony No. 4

Part of The OverHEARD

The exhibition in Folkestuen consists of sculptural instruments built during the last 20 years and shown at various exhibitions and festivals.

Among the exhibited instruments are a water organ with 12 tone pipes mounted on the wall; a 15-tone string instrument played by small magnets striking the strings; 12-tone chimes where rotating magnets strike the aluminium rods mounted on resonance boxes and 2 water drums in a small basin played with falling drops of water.

All instruments are controlled by a relay control of solenoid valves, and for the exhibition audio sequences will be composed of approximately 20 minutes, consisting of 15-20 small melodies for varying instruments mixed with the sound of water glass. The audience activates the sound in the room via sensors.

The exhibition is created in collaboration with Struer City of Sound and Gimsinghoved Art and Cultural Centre.
