Jamex and Einar de la Torre: SLOTH

Part of Seven Deadly Sins
Presented by Glasmuseet Ebeltoft

The acclaimed Mexican artists, Jamex and Einar de la Torre, recast the idea of Sloth. With Mexican roots and currently living in San Diego near the border between USA and Mexico, the brothers de la Torre are well aware of the disparaging cliché of ‘the lazy Mexican’ – ‘Pancho’ asleep under the cactus.

Paradoxically, Mexicans are handling practically all manual and physically demanding work in the southern part of the USA. A fresh view on the deadly sin Sloth from Mexicans with a global viewpoint opens a number of new opportunities for rethinking the historical subject in today’s society.
