Design for Diversity

Presented by Specialist Area Autism, Central Denmark Region

A special dwelling. A small, modern house designed by architects striving for quality, with a sense of great aesthetics and specially designed solutions for people living with autism. Built using fabulous materials taking account of the environment, and offering flexibility in terms of size. The buildings are mobile and can be moved to relocate. The Central Denmark Region’s

Specialist Area Autism has developed this housing concept for people living with autism related challenges. The house massively rethinks the physical framework, where experience and knowledge of autism-friendly construction is incorporated into the home. This housing concept is about independent living and breaks with the conventional wisdom that dictates how this group of often marginalized people should live in society.

Through designing for diversity, people with autism can live together in a clustered community yet apart, with each having their own privacy.

The houses are designed by Pluskontoret Arkitekter.
