The city turns upside down

’Bâtiment’ by argentinian Leandro Erlich is a large-scale installation consisting of a mock-up building façade turned on its side and a multi-storey mirror exhibiting as a part of The Aarhus Festival. European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017 supports the project.

The piece allows visitors to view themselves in a gravity-defying illusion where they are hanging off the elevation of a three-level house. The work aims to challenge and skew the viewer’s comprehension of reality by using mundane elements of urban life that have slipped into the unconscious of the public. This master of illusion hails from Argentina, but his work has been installed across the globe. 'Bâtiment' is a very literal interpretation of this year's theme 'Upside Down'.

Experience the installation at Bispetorv during the entire Festival.
