Spectacular water art receives million donation

Randers will offer amazing water art in 2017, and a donation of one million DKK from The A. P. Møller Foundation makes the event Watermusic a happening of international scope. App. 40,000 guests are expected to experience Watermusic, one of the Full Moon events in the Capital of Culture year in 2017.

The Full Moon event Watermusic will rethink the harbour area in Randers, filling it with light, sound, song, animation and film. The event takes place on September 2 and 3 in 2017, with artistic contributions from more than 300 national and international participants.

CEO of Aarhus 2017 Rebecca Matthews is happy with the large donation from The A. P. Møller Foundation:

”It's amazing to experience how the business sector and foundations support Aarhus 2017 and our more than 350 cultural projects. By doing that, they help ensure that we can create a cultural event of such great scope in Denmark.”

At Randers EgnsTeater, Director Peter Westphael is happy that they are now a step closer to creating an event in Randers with a budget of more than 4 million DKK:

”We are extremely grateful that The A. P. Møller Foundation recognizes the quality of our project. It will be spectacular in every way possible. The whole harbour area - silos, storage buildings, docks, cranes - will be included in this musical performance with water as an element of life. We have great ambitions and expectations of creating the largest cultural event in Randers ever, and have already had three impressive laser tests, which gave audiences a sense of what to expect in 2017."

Watermusic is a collaboration between Randers Egnsteater, Randers Kommune, Randers Eventsekretariat, Randers Havn, Verdo, Korby Randers, Randers Musikskole, Østjysk vækstbånd, various cultural associations and many more.
