Meet Aarhus 2017 at the opening of DOKK1

During the official opening of DOKK1 on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 June, you have the opportunity to meet Aarhus 2017 and learn more about the European Capital of Culture.

Aarhus’ new multimedia house DOKK1 opens on Saturday 20 June. Her Majesty the Queen, Royal Patron of Aarhus 2017, declares the house officially open for the public at 11 A.M. Both Saturday and Sunday have a programme fizzing with activities, which gives the citizens a taste of what the house has to offer.

The citizens will also have the opportunity to meet the secretariat behind Aarhus 2017 and a number of the Capital of Culture’s volunteers – our Rethinkers – who stand ready to share what the public can expect of the cultural year in 2017. Until the end of 2017, DOKK1 will house the secretariat of the Capital of Culture. Managing Director Rebecca Matthews is pleased with this:

“We are thrilled to be a part of DOKK1. This house will vibrate with culture and life. DOKK1 is a great architectural achievement located in very inspiring surroundings in Aarhus Ø. This area will experience an exciting development and rethinking leading up to the Capital of Culture year in 2017. This makes DOKK1 the perfect place for our daily work in the secretariat,” says Rebecca Matthews.

Numerous activities are planned during the weekend. Volunteers, partners and associations in Aarhus have organized them. Besides meeting Aarhus 2017, visitors can play with programming together with Coding Pirates, enjoy the beautiful sound of Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, be excited over the theatre Filuren, experience the Music School jamming, listen to readings, meet Ant-Man and much more.
