Hay Festival is a literature festival that takes place every year at the end of May in the small village Hay-on-Wye (1.500 citizens), Wales. The festival took place for the very first time in 1988, and celebrates its 30th anniversary this year in May. In spite of its small population, the village Hay-on-Wye has 23 bookshops and a thriving literary scene. Hay Festival reaches a global audience of 100.000 people each year.
