About the Bier Trilogy
Oscar-winning Danish film-maker, Susanne Bier, has built a reputation as one of the world’s outstanding directors through her works that examine the lives of people as they encounter the raw emotion and challenges of living a life separately and together.
In 2017 Bier’s celebrated film trilogy Brothers, Open Hearts and After the Wedding is transformed from screen to stage in three ground breaking theatrical commissions. Bier’s most acclaimed and successful films will be staged in three different genres – as an opera, a dance performance and a musical.
Led by commissioning partner, Musikhuset, the opera Brothers is being produced in cooperation with the Danish National Opera and Aarhus Symphony Orchestra. The dance performance Open Hearts is being produced in cooperation with a major partner to be revealed soon, and the musical After the Wedding is being produced in cooperation with the Betty Nansen Teatret.
