European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017 - THE FINALE

Saturday 9 December 17:00 – 18:00 at Aarhus horbour and 14:00 – 05:00 in Aarhus city centre.

WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN?
On Saturday 9 December, the European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017 will invite people to the official finale of the culture of capital year.

The whole closing ceremony at 17:00 - 17:30 in Hvide Sande, will be shown on a large screen at Aarhus harbour, at Mellemarmen behind Dokk1. After the live streaming of the event in Hvide Sande, activities will continue at the Port of Aarhus, where a unique year will be remembered using sound and images. The public can look forward to a narrative that Aarhus poet Mads Mygind has created specially for the finale. The show will last for 20 minutes and end with a two-minute fireworks display.

Once the show ends at Aarhus harbour, the public will be invited to enjoy a huge musical festival across the whole of Aarhus city centre. A large number of well-known and new music venues will host more than 75 free concerts with Danish and international bands. Some individual concerts will already begin at 14:00.

You can also see the installation Plant a Light in the greenhouses in the Botanical Garden. At Bispetorv, the winner of Rethink The Hit, Jens Gustav, will perform with young talents from the city. Aarhus Musikskole (music school) will perform a family friendly show at Officerspladsen.
